This is not an automated status page yet. It is an honest description of what runs where, and what an error actually means.
Website
The pages you are reading right now: the tool forms, the format reference and everything that is not the download itself. Hosted separately from the resolver on purpose.
Media resolver
A separate service that talks to Instagram's CDN and streams files back through a signed, temporary link. Almost every real failure starts here rather than on the website: a broken link, a rate limit, an unsupported content type.
If a tool says "The resolver could not process that link," that is the resolver reporting a problem. Most often Instagram is rate limiting a burst of requests, which usually clears within a few minutes.
